“In my father’s footsteps” - Simon Hopper, FCA

It didn’t really work like that. As a youngster my father used to give me boxes of client invoices and got me to file them in date order. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this. Then at grammar school I got on well with my accounts teacher and when deciding on a subject for university I put both together.

After graduating from Dundee University, I trained with Kennedy & Co. Chartered Accountants, a Belfast based general practice, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2003. I joined my father and became a partner in 2006.
